this reminds of the the time before we knew each other and we were both in high school driving our cars listening to bright eyes full blast. myspace was just a baby back then. i used to have internet romances in art class. i wore dresses and slips over jeans everyday and dark dark eye makeup. i wish we could have skipped class together and smoked cigarettes in the cow field.

today, i bought eggplant for the first time in my life and made this for dinner. (i hate russet potatoes, so i used the cute ones that fit in the palm of your hand. i also forgot to buy celery.) it was sooooooo delicious.

this will be the first birthday i have celebrated without you in seven years. can we plan on doing the exact same thing at the exact same time wearing the exact same thing on the real day?

brian has been wearing a pair of my leggings while we study swedish. we look like twins: long curly hair, black holey leggings, and baggy threadbare tshirts. he is sitting next to the computer in all sorts of funny ways, but he won't let me take a picture. i told him he looks like a dancer in cats.
"why can't i be in the lion king?"

Alysse very irresponsibly got a kitten last night at this backyard bbq party. There were five of them and she chose an all black one who wouldn't stop making terrible noises and squirming all over the place. On the way home i held him on my lap and completely cocooned him in my hands to imitate 5 week old kitten cuddling and it worked. She named him Voldemort and I'm rolling my eyes a lot.

Hello, I loved yesterday's email. It made me miss you so much. I am afraid of the gmail archives! I will surely miss you more than I can take if i become any more nostalgic!

I'm so sorry I missed your phone calls on my bday. Hearing your voice, even in voicemail form made me so so happy. We have to ichat no matter how awkward it seems. The weirdness would prob only last like 2 mins. I shouldn't be afraid because I've even ichatted w/ Charlie before and that's so funny to me.

I'm going to tell you about Thursday and Friday. You were missed so much. On Thursday I had to work and then we went to the Earl. A bunch of people actually came and brought cupcakes and sang happy birthday (imagine how awful that was for me.) Then on my actual birthday,

reason #1 I missed your calls was because Chris got me an hour long massage..lol. Reason #2 I missed your calls was because I was in the aquarium. Then I slept the rest of the day.

I want to show you my two favorite presents because I know you will think they are as funny and silly as I do.

This is a porcelain cat that Chris got me from Kudzu.

He is getting to know me pretty well to know that I would love this absolutely creepy cat face w/ green eyes..for some reason the face reminds me of something we would have scribbled on a note in art history 1. Like the prince charming picture.

And Celia got me this horrible smelly fur that I love. I knew you would make fun of me by pointing out how much I used to hate these fellows, but I think this little man has changed me. He is for wearing around your neck, but I lay him flat on a coffee table and it makes for the best, creepiest, trendiest decoration ever, complete with all four legs and tail.

I miss you dearly and I'm sorry I don't write more. I promise to be better about it. I want to know how things are with you and to see your apartment and hear about your daily routine.

The funniest series of couch pictures from cabbagetown.

Two mornings ago, I woke up at eight am frightened out of a dream and had to wake up Chris to tell him: you and Brian came back to visit. We were at a party-you pulled me into this room to talk to me (wearing the aa cat dress) and immediately put your hands on your stomach revealing a pregnant belly!!!!!!!!! AH you said you stopped taking birth control. I woke up nearly in a cold sweat. My psychic days are over mar, so don't worry. I don't just know anymore.

Tonight Cara and i are making veg italian food with wine. She will soon be moving out of the cabbagetown house and it will be lonely without us girls there to laugh/dance in the kitchen or play cards on the walkthrough room floor. I'm dying to see you again!

black pepper snack!

1 cup (2.4 dl) cooked green lentils
a few tbs (msk) earth balance/ carlshamn mjölkfritt matfett
a big chopped onion
4 garlic cloves minced
sea salt
lots of black pepper

saute onion & garlic in margarine with a little salt
when it's golden add pepper and lentils
warm up the lentils
add more pepper!

Such a nice warm belly treat on a rainy Monday night when a moth has fallen into your sink and can't fly back out of the window.

Yesterday I meant to tell you about something..I know this new girl that works at JL. I go there for coffee like every day and we talk. (I think we would be friends with her if life was the tiniest bit different.) Two days ago she told me she was at some guy's house recently and was looking through a homemade book on his coffee table. There was a polaroid picture of me and you in the homemade book. Some creep has a homemade book. With our picture in it. I can't get over it. I'm dying for more information that she didn't have. What the! My first idea was that it was the stolen picture from the door of 801, but it couldn't have been.

I missed you so much on tuesday and honored my maria nostalgia with whole foods southern style fried tofu and collard greens. And I picked up a bottle of our charcoal bodywash. Can you find the equivalent in Swedenland? Also, it sounds as though you had a more American 4th than Chris and me. It rained and rained and we went to a metal show. The only fireworks I saw were lit by a tattooed redneck in a cut off black tee in the middle of a drizzle..So yesterday, Chris and I drank spiked lemonade and beers by the pool and grilled out hotdawg style to make up for our lost fourth of july.

Last night, a new friend told me about a man that used to be on television in the seventies. In front of a live studio audience he would hold a spoon in between his thumb and forefinger and bend spoons with his mind. Recently, the mystic spoon man covered a car in bent spoons and drove it across Israel and Palestine on a mission of peace and good vibrations. I like to think that he found your old white Volvo station wagon, and now it is careening down holy roads a Howard Finster dream of white and silver.

I want to google him, but I feel that all the mystery will disappear once I see a picture (like what happened to The Moldy Peaches after you saw a picture of Kimya Dawson).
